Joanne Cheng

Joanne Cheng is a seasoned bilingual intercultural marketing consultant/TV producer & director specializing in creative communications for the Chinese and American markets.

Ms. Cheng began her communications career in 1987 in her home town Beijing China where she first worked as a news reporter and later writer/director /anchor for "Center Stage", an English speaking entertainment show in China Central Television (CCTV) Beijing, China. In the US, Cheng founded her own company East-West Corridor Communications in 1993 and has since offered niche services in Chinese American marketing, Public Relations and TV reporting to an extraordinary array of clients from advertising agencies, Fortune 500 corporations to major broadcast networks. Joanne has personally produced, directed translated and narrated many bilingual multimedia marketing materials. Cheng also worked as a licensing agent who sold the copyright to three of Mario Puzo's novels and TV films titles to Mainland China.

Joanne also produced and consulted for ABC 20/20, MTV/Asia and PBS on the China/Chinese culture related stories. Joanne has produced and directed CHINA GOLD RUSH a documentary film on modern China broadcasted on PBS/WLIW21 in 2000. Ms. Cheng was educated in both China and the US, with a BA in English/Journalism from Beijing, China, and MA in Communication Arts from Maryland, USA.


David Temple

Marketing Consultant

David Temple is CEO at Global Education Marketing, Inc., which promotes educational products and services worldwide. He has more than 20 years of educational and training experience and 7 years of search marketing. David optimized his first site in 1998 with US Internet.

In 1999 David produced and presented a seminar series, "Surviving the Internet" with ShopNBC. In 2000 he was the VP Business Relations, at Subjex, an artificially intelligent dialogue based search engine. In 2002 David was the VP of Business Development, China Webplus, a B2B and B2C e-commerce solutions and Internet/intranet development company. David introduced the company at an early ecommerce show in Beijing . He enjoyed China so much he stayed and taught. David was a visiting professor and lecturer in Guangzhou at Dr. Sun Yat Sen University, Lingnan College, South China Normal University and in Beijing at the University of Mining and Technology and the University of Architechure and Engineering. Most of his students were International MBA candidates but he also taught middle school and kindergarten with his wife which they thoroughly enjoyed.

David was a Search Marketing Consultant at Findlaw.com and SEO Manager at TopRank Online Marketing prior to founding Global Education Marketing, Inc. He was on the Search Engine Strategies "Global Search Landscape" panel, and will be presenting at the next eComXpo. David currently blogs about the China search marketing at Multilingual-Search.com.

Brandt Fredriksen

Artistic Director

Brandt Fredriksen is in charge of EWCC's programming for all music exchange programs between the US and China. Director and founder of the Silver Bay Music Festival that combines teaching and performances, Music educator/teacher, Piano Faculty,Manhattan School of Music-Preparatory Div. Master classes at universities and conservatories throughout the United States, China and Greece.

Pianist Graduate of Indiana University and The Juilliard School; Doctoral of Music Degree from SUNY at Stony Brook; Winner of the Munz Award, Artists International Competition; Performances at Weill Hall, Merkin Hall, Hunter College, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Major Universities throughout the United States. Recordings with Fleur de Son, Guild and Elfin Music.

Daniel Durning

Design Consultant & Media Producer

Daniel Durning is an artist, educator, and new media designer. He is a full time Assistant Professor of computer graphics and animation in the Fine Arts Department of the New York Institute of Technology. Daniel has worked in production since 1984, where he developed his skills in the art departments of many film, video, animation and multimedia production companies. He has designed and art directed numerous high-end commercial projects for various companies throughout the years including an Oscar award winning film, interactive animated CD-ROM and the early website development.


His most recent project was developed in conjunction with MOMA's new ground breaking internet radio station WPS1 where he can be heard as host of his own radio show Art and Technology, Discussions with Visual and Sound Artists. Daniel Durning is dedicated towards promoting digital art and animation in New York City. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of NYC ACM SIGGRAPH, where he has organized numerous events for the NYC computer graphics community.

George Zhao

Trade Mission Manager

George Zhao was born in Shandong, China and currently lives in the United States. He worked for 7 years at the China International Travel Service (CITS) where he was a Tour Manager. George has managed trade missions, government and business conferences, trade shows and sightseeing tours. During his time there he led over 10,000 people from more than 50 countries all around China and to more than 20 other countries. George also provided interpretation and translation services.

George graduated from Liaocheng Teachers University where he excelled at the javelin, discus and decathalon. He attended Guandong Public Administration Institute where he received his Masters of Philosopy and was an assistant professor and lecturer. George received his Masters of Business Administration at the University of North London where his area of focus was cross cultural marketing.
